For large (16 - 100) saxophone ensemble (& improvising soloist(s))).

Rift is a conducted improvisation, the different boxes, looped by the musicians, are started and stopped by the conductor, who also conducts the dynamics and intensity of each box. The score is merely a framework for improvisation, the piece will take shape depending on the imagination of the conductor. (This can include using certain gestures from Soundpainting for example, to control the tempo, synchronicity, dynamics, and soloists).

The different groups of saxophones can be separated physically around the audience, and conducted in groups.

Each individual saxophonists can chose their own tempo for each box, unless otherwise directed by the conductor.
